Projects:
Pursuing the Great Commission involves sharing the Word of God in ways people can receive and understand. Yet for hundreds of millions around the world, meaningful access to Scripture remains out of reach. Not because the Word doesn't exist in their language, but because the medium doesn't match the person.
The UNESCO Institute for Statistics reports that approximately 739 million adults are fully illiterate, and hundreds of millions more lack the reading proficiency needed to effectively engage with a text Bible. Beyond literacy, missions researchers estimate that nearly two-thirds of the world's population are oral learners. These are people who naturally receive and retain information through spoken word, regardless of their ability to read.
Existing audio Scripture solutions are a proven answer, but distribution and accessibility gaps remain significant. Relying on smartphones to carry audio Scripture to the nations comes with real barriers. Connectivity and technical literacy requirements for users to gain access are a significant hurdle. Additionally, smartphones introduce a level of distraction that works against Scripture engagement. Dedicated audio Bible players address these problems effectively. However, we've found that current models have cumbersome interfaces that make navigating the Bible difficult, and there is further optimization that can be done to improve device longevity and repairability.
ForM28's goal is to close that gap. We are developing an audio Bible device that is durable and easy to repair in the field for long service life, with an intuitive interface designed to enable fluid navigation through the Bible. By combining thoughtful interface design with accessible hardware, we aim to put distraction-free, self-contained audio Scripture into the hands of those who need to hear it most.
